I had already gone up more than a few bra sizes, but the clothes, no way. I would live with the muffin top before I'd admit I needed to go up a size. This was only temporary...depending on what your definition of temporary was.

I was completely frustrated, and then in almost a moment of desperation, I decided to try something crazy - and within 7 days, people were commenting on how I looked like I had lost some weight...

7 days!...

And within a few months, all the extra weight was gone!

I thought about it, and once I figured out exactly how this happened, I knew this was really cool because I thought other people could do it exactly like I did.

That's me with my mom in the first photo. You can see we both have the same body type. I think I was in denial when I started gaining weight. Jackets became my friend during the time I was 25 pounds overweight. I was fooling myself that a jacket could hide the weight since, on my body, it all goes to my torso. It's hard to hide that much weight when you're a small-boned person and 5'2".
 
I don’t have any medical or dietician degrees, but I have been passionately studying health, nutrition, supplements and the mind/body connection since 1981 as an outgrowth of my interest in how the mind works and what makes us change. Here's my history:
Born a fat baby - I'm talking Michelin man fat!
2 years: Hospitalized for severe dehydration (my Dad was sent back from Korea because they expected me to die)
5 years: Full body Psoriasis - ultraviolet treatments, tar baths, meds, the whole deal
6 years: Tuberculosis: sent to live in a children’s sanitarium in another town 
33 years: Severe asthma, allergies to almost everything and hypoglycemia
43 years: Diagnosed with breast cancer
49 years: Hospitalized with severe pneumonia complicated by Valley Fever

Now, it was time to look at what possible key factors were there beyond what we are being told by doctors and the media.

By the time I got disgusted enough with my weight gain I had tried everything all those years of studying had taught me to do.

It used to all work. I used to be thin, even if I wasn't completely healthy.

But it wasn't working anymore. None of it!

So I went back to the drawing board, started looking for other clues, and figured out there were a few things I had missed. 

I thought I was doing everything right, until I asked myself the truly, deep down, right question.

  • cutting out the foods I love...

After answering that question, I saw where the gaps were and I immediately knew what do about it. I said I thought it was crazy. That's because it just seemed way too easy to possibly be the answer, but it was!

As you can guess, that gave me a new mission. 

At the time, even though I had told myself I was doing everything the same as before I gained the weight, I really wasn't. There were a few key things that had fallen by the wayside and I just didn't see it. 

So, I changed the first missing key and noticed a big improvement in my energy. 

I changed another missing key, and then a third. Now I was sleeping better and my skin was looking more youthful. I could swear some of my wrinkles were shrinking.

After I had everything in place, I was back on track. And it was so easy!

I knew it was going to take some time... but I was very surprised to see how much different I felt and the changes I was starting to see in my body in just a matter of days.

The weight was starting to fall off. I had more energy. My brain was clearer and it was easier to stay focused (without making any of the sacrifices I was so worried about!!!)
